On his own...

Here's my cute boy after making his own "bed". He also started making his own bologna sandwiches a couple weeks ago (which surprisingly almost made me cry). I never thought apron strings would be a problem for me, but I'm beginning to wonder... I'm 7 months pregnant now, and finding child-bearing in the USA to be far more complicated than it was in Scotland. I try not to stress, but sometimes I just feel like going out to the forest and giving birth on a picnic blanket for simplicities sake.

Bat Rays and Birthdays

The picture above is from January when I went to Germany with my father and sister. It was an amazing trip. My energy was a bit down being 4 months pregnant, but still so glad I went! I'll try and put up a complete post about that trip once I get all the files.

We just spent a wonderful weekend in the Monterey area! On Saturday the 17th we went to the aquarium with cousin Callee and Keenan. Avery seemed most amazed by the kelp tank, and said his favorite part was the live birds (that didn't fly away). He also spent a lot of time at the sea otter tank. Oh! I almost forgot...by far the favorite part for both Avery and Keenan was the swirling light on the floor. They chased it around and around until I almost lost my lunch, and no amount of, "Let's go to the jellyfish over here" could tear them away from it.

Sunday was spent wishing Aiden a happy birthday, and I must say, he was very generous and let Avery use his bed and bedroom...not to mention all his toys. The household was full and lively. I loved it! It was wonderful to see everyone again.

Mixin' It Up

Here's my son being good and trying to play the piano with his fingers (as opposed to his fists, feet, or plastic hammer). His favourite song to play is the metronome back beat...thrilling for the first minute, but ten minutes later it can get a bit old *grin*

I'm thrilled having recieved 100% on my first paper for Early Childhood Education. I seriously was hoping for a C, so imagine my joy at 20 out of 20! *pat my back* Part of the reason for taking this class is that I'm working at a preschool, and loving it. The college credits allow me more flexiblity (when I get enough) and a pay raise.

My husband is still working off his batookie doing 17 credits, chaplin's assistant, and apartment manager here at seminary. He just preached his best sermon ever to J. Alfred Smith, and I'm so proud of him!

Yay fall! The rains were so nice...I can't wait for more cold and blustery days. In regards to the game on Eddie's blog The Closest Book:

Rules as follows:

Adjustments

Well my little boy has officially spent 3 days in the care of another. I comforts me greatly that I get to know his caretakers so well (since they work in the room beside me). It's hard during the day when everyone is playing outside, and I can't go get him and carry him around with me. He's coping remarkably well, but I still hear "momma" from across the playground several times a day *sigh* He's learning to blow kisses very well. He's stressing a bit more in the morning now that he realizes that this situation will continue, and isn't quite sure of it, but I think playing with the kids will really be good for his personal skills as he grows up.

On a brighter note, we're hoping to spend the week of Christmas in a cabin in the Sierra Nevada with friends. I hope that works out, it would be so cool! I can't wait to see Avery playing in the snow!

The First Post

My most recent accomplishment, growing veggies from seeds...and here is my first real vegetable! We've also managed to consume fresh spinach and lettuce from my little box gardens. Can't say I'll do it from seeds again, but it's nice to know it can be done :)

The second most recent accomplishment was accquiring a job at a local children's center. I work with the preschool age (3-5 yrs old). So far I've been there a week, and I'm very happy. I a few weeks Avery will be joining me in the room next door during the day, so that daddy can get a summer job. My job will continue for the next 2 years I hope!
